Emma R. Karney, 84, Accomplished cook, enjoyed caring for her Sheep Dogs and being with family

Mrs. Karney attended Lorain High School and went on to work as an assembler at Western Automatic Corporation (predecessor to the Moen Corporation), in Elyria.

She was a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a former parishioner of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain where she was a member of St. Ann's Auxiliary.

Emma was an accomplished cook and baker and took special pride in preparing dishes representing her Hungarian ancestry. Additional interests included caring for her Old English Sheep Dogs as well as spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Christine) Recupero of Green, Ohio a son Joseph M. Karney of San Diego, California, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, and a sister Helen Bonnallie residing in Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Karney in 2001 and by her parents Michael and Mary (nee Vaszily) Kuhn, by a brother Michael and by a sister Sr. Mary Angela of the Daughters of Divine Redeemers.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 15, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway in Lorain where a rosary will be recited by members of the St. Vincent de Paul Altar and Rosary Society at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel, and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria Township. The Reverend James Ols, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
