Ferdinand A. "Ferdie" Visci, 90, Owner of Visci Bowling Alley and Pool Hall, sports enthusiast, enjoyed traveling

Ferdinand A. "Ferdie" Visci, age 90, a lifetime resident of Lorain, died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Ohio Extended Care Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

He was born on May 12, 1913 in Lorain, graduated from Lorain High School and was a life member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter.

He worked for the US Steel Company as a brakesman and railroad engineer until his retirement in 1978. He also was the owner of Visci Recreation Bowling Alleys and Pool Hall at 13th Street and Broadway in Lorain. He was an accomplished pool player and bowler. He defeated many national pool players in his glory days and is also a member of the Lorain Bowling Hall of Fame.

He was a great sports enthusiast, faithfully following the Cleveland Indians and Browns and his own family's sporting events and athletic activities. He also enjoyed traveling the United States with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth J. "Betty" Visci (nee Toth), daughter Natalie Freeman of Everett, Washington, sons Fred Visci of Lorain and Bob Visci of Orlando, Florida, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, sister Mary Mazzone of Oberlin and brother Alex Visci of Avon Lake.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Antonio and Elvira (nee Romito) Visci, daughter Carol Visci in 1994 and brothers Victor and Pasquale Visci.

Friends may call Tuesday, July 15, 2003 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.

Prayers will be said on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David G. Woost, associate Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
