Wilbur J. Lockard, 87, Moen Corporation Retiree
Wilbur J. "Jack" Lockard, age 87, of Sanford, North Carolina, and long-time Lorain County resident, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at the Durham Regional medical Center in Durham, North Carolina following an extended illness.Mr. Lockard was born in Van Wert, Ohio on March 7, 1916 and had been a resident of Sanford since 1978 coming from Lorain.
He was employed as an electrician for the Western Automatic Corporation, and then its successor company, the Moen Corporation of Elyria for 42 years, he retired in 1978.
Mr. Lockard was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lorain as well as a member of Lorain Lodge #1301 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Survivors include a son: Jacque Lockard of Sanford, North Carolina, a daughter LaRita "Rita" Pohorence of Amherst, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Mae (nee Popovich) in March of 2002, by his parents W.R. and Freda (nee Hahn) Lockard, and by brother Fred Lockard.
Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Sr. Catherine Romancik, Chaplain for Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio.
