Wanda H. Mucha, 88, WWII Veteran, Worked for Hills Department Store

Wanda H. Mucha (nee Maslyk), 88, of Perrysburg, Ohio and formerly of Lorain and Vermilion, died Friday, July 18, 2003 at the Heartland of Perrysburg.

She was born March 12, 1915 in Lagrange, Ohio and had resided in Perrysburg for the past one and a half years moving from Vermilion. She had lived in Lorain from 1950-1994.

She served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II with the rank of Auxiliary First Class. She was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

Mrs. Mucha worked at the Hills Department Store in Lorain for 17 years, retiring in 1977.

She was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Lorain, the church Altar and Rosary Society, the Legion of Mary and the Hill's Retiree Group.

She is survived by her daughters: Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Purney of Northwood, Ohio and Mrs. Keith (Frances) Waldron of Vermilion, son Ted (Joanne) Mucha of Lorain, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and brother Julian Maslyk of Charlottesville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband Marion J. Mucha in 1967, sister Verna Adams, and brother Walter Maslyk.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 21, 2003 from 4-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. The Rev. Thomas Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

Memorial contributions can be made to a hospice program of the donor's choice.
