Violet R. Thomas, 80, Lorain Products Retiree

Violet R. Thomas, (nee Marino), age 80, of Lorain, died Saturday, July 19, 2003 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a short illness.

She was born on February 1, 1923 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and resided in Elyria for several years before coming to Lorain in 1953.

She was a coil winder at Lorain Products for 14 years before retiring in 1986. Prior to that she had worked at Faroh's Candy, Central Bakery, Lorain City Schools as a luncheon aide, and Harry's Mens Wear as a seamstress.

Surviving is a son, Mike of Lorain, a daughter Antoinette Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia, one grandson, and two sisters, Louise Holton of Birmingham, Alabama and Ann Radanovich of Butler, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents Salvatore and Antoinette (nee Sgro) Marino and five brothers: Sam, Dominic, Anthony, Angelo, and Joe.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain where memorial services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. by Rev. Mr. William Schill, deacon of St. Stanislaus Church, Lorain. The family requests no flowers.
