Thomas "Tom" J. Toothman, 57, Enjoyed his work, reading, puzzles, and garage sales
Thomas "Tom" J. Toothman, age 57, of Lorain, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at his residence, following a battle with cancer.Born on March 22, 1946 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Mr. Toothman had lived in Lorain for most of his life. He had been employed at the Golden Acres County Home for over 12 years, retiring in May of this year. He had also worked at the U.S. Steel Mill for 5 years. He was a former member of the laborer's union local #758 of Lorain. He enjoyed his work, reading, crossword puzzles, hunting, fishing, and garage sales.
He is survived by his wife Lillian Fay (nee Pilarsh) Yee-Toothman, 3 sons: Thomas "Tommy" N. Toothman and Michael "Mikey" A. Toothman, both of Lorain, James "Jimmy" Toothman, 2 daughters, Dawn R. Thompson of Medina and Patrice "Patty" A. Maxwell, 3 stepsons, Terry Yee of Elyria, SPC Jeremy Yee of the U.S. Army and Joshua Yee of Lorain, 12 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Gerald "Jerry" G. Toothman and Theodore D. Toothman, both of Lorain, 4 sisters: Marvel "Marty" A. Weaver of Warren Robins, Georgia, Debra "Debbie" M. Kildow and Mona J. Hambree, both of Lorain, and Tamara "Tammy" L. Altamar of Wakeman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Grey and Ethel Anna Ruth (nee Hayes) Toothman, and a granddaughter Jenna Thompson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2003 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of memorial services at 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, with the Rev. Carrie Cullen of the U.N.A. Hospice of Cleveland, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
