Beatrice Sturgill, 75, Enjoyed canning and being a homemaker

Beatrice (nee Rose) Sturgill, 75 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness.

She was born September 12, 1997 in Bruin, Kentucky where she was raised. She moved to Lorain in 1949 and has been a resident of Vermilion since 1975.

She was a member of West Ridge Baptist Church in Amherst. She enjoyed canning, reading, quilting, and all aspects of being a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years, William Emory Sturgill, Sr., her son William E. Sturgill, Jr., of Lorain, her daughter Joyce Griffith of Taylorsville, Kentucky, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, her brothers Russel Rose and Allen Edward Rose, both of Bruin, Kentucky, and her sister Bessie Sturgill of Ashland, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her son Anthony W. Sturgill on July 11, 2000 and by her parents Roscoe and Maude Rose (nee Justice).

Friends may call Thursday, July 31, 2003 from 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. from West Ridge Baptist Church; 46280 Telegraph Rd., Amherst with the Rev. Bill Fraley, pastor, officiating. Additional calling hours will be held Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home, Highway 7 and 32 in Sandyhook, Kentucky. Graveside service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Rose Family Cemetery in Bruin, Kentucky.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 43099 North Ridge Rd., Elyria 44035.
