Julia Kish, 83, Antique Dealer and Collector

Julia Kish a.ka. Kiss, (nee Vekasy), age 83, of Lorain died Friday, August 1, 2003 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Lorain following a lengthy illness.

Born May 14, 1920 in Nagy Szelmence, Ung Megye, Hungary, she settled in Lorain in 1936.

For many years, Julia had been an antique dealer and collector. Prior to this she had worked at 3 Sisters Restaurant, Lorain, in the rectory of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Lorain. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and collecting antiques.

Surviving is her daughters, Nancy Sigler, of Vermilion, and Helen Williams of Brentwood, TN, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great granddaughters and a sister, Helen Koteles, of S. Pasadena, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Louis in 1976, her parents, Alex Vekasy and Mary (nee Halasz) Vekasy, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 3, 2003 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain where a parastas service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 Reeves Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Batcha, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
