Joseph James Pauer, 93, Owned Pauer Printing, Rocky River

Joseph James Pauer, 93, of Avon Lake, formerly of Rocky River, passed away, Sunday, August 3, 2003 at St. John West Shore Hospital, following a brief illness. Mr. Pauer was born, February 28, 1910 in Cleveland and had lived in Avon Lake for over 65 years.

Mr. Pauer owned Pauer Printing in Rocky River since 1941, retiring in the mid 1980's. He was a 1926 graduate of St. Procop High School and earned a Business Certificate from Spencerian College, Cleveland. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

His wife of 55 years, Mildred Ann (nee Novotny) passed away in 1989. He is survived by four sons: Jay M. Pauer of Homerville, Ohio, Lyle A. Pauer (Veronica) of Brecksville, John C. Pauer of Phoenix, Arizona, and James F. Pauer of Avon Lake. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren: David L., Thomas J., Deborah L., Marirose A., Timothy J., and Philip J., 5 great grandchildren: Christian, Isabela, Olivia, Alexander, and Gabriela, half brother James A. Pauer and half sister Ruth Vyhnalek, both of Broadview Heights. Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary (nee Koza) Paur.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon lake, Thursday, August 7, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the funeral home, 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2003 followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32929 Lake Rd., Avon Lake, at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Timothy J. O'Connor of the Church along with Fr. Kenneth Katricek, OSB and Fr. John J. Hayes, Retired, will officiate.
