Joseph Rinaldi, 81, President of Rinaldi Builders, Lorain

Photo of Joseph Rinaldi Joseph Rinaldi, 81, of Huron and formerly of Lorain, died Sunday August 3, 2003 at his home after a three-year illness with cancer.

He was born February 1, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York and had resided in Huron for the past three years moving from Lorain.

Mr. Rinaldi served with the US Marine Corps during World War II with the rank of corporal in the pacific theater. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Rinaldi worked at the American Shipbuilding Company in Lorain for 25 years. He was president and owner of Rinaldi Builders in Lorain.

He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Italian-American Veterans Post #1 and Elks BPO Lodge #1301, all of Lorain.

Mr. Rinaldi was an avid golfer and had five hole-in-ones to his credit.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Martha (nee Stellato); son Joseph Rinaldi of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; sister Angelina Danna of Long Island, New York and brothers John Rinaldi and Ernie Rinaldi, both of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his son Paul J. Rinaldi in 1980 and parents James & Mary Rinaldi (nee Oddo) and two sisters.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM at the Catholic Church of
St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
