Kenneth A. Rak, 56, Enjoyed old cars, watching races
Kenneth A. Rak, 56, of Lorain, died Sunday, August 3, 2003 at Fairview Hospital in Fairview Park after a nine-month illness.He was born March 25, 1947 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain-area resident.
Mr. Rak was a 1965 graduate of Lorain High School. He served with the Ohio Army National Guard as a Specialist 4 in Company D, 112th Engineer Battalion.
He worked at Maverick Tube Corporation (LTV Copperweld) in Elyria for the past three years in Electrical Maintenance. Prior to that he worked at RTI (USS/Kobe) in Lorain in Electrician/Instrumentation Repair for 33 years retiring in 1999.
Mr. Rak was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, American Legion #30, Knights of Columbus and United Steelworkers Local #1104, all of Lorain. He enjoyed old cars and watching car races. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years Linda (nee Schmidt), son Justin Rak of Lorain, mother Lucille Rak of Elyria, brothers Raymond Rak of Amherst, Robert Rak of Westlake and Edward M. Rak of Amherst and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Edward L. Rak.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 6, 2003 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where American Legion Post #30 will conduct military honors.
