Jane H. Franko, 87, Hobbies included sewing and gardening

Jane H. Franko (nee Walendziak), age 87, of Lorain, died Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at her home after suffering an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Franko was born July 27, 1916 in Elyria and had been a resident of Lorain since 1944.

She was employed as a licensed beautician throughout Lorain County for a number of years and had previously been employed by the Worthington Golf Ball Company and Timms Spring Company both of Elyria.

She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lorain and was also a member of the United Polish Club of Elyria and the American Association of Retired Persons. Her hobbies included sewing and gardening.

She is survived by a brother, Raymond Walend residing in Avon Lake along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 1998, daughter Rita J. Frank in 1970, her parents Joseph and Anna (nee Sobotka) Walendziak, sister Bernice Denes, and brothers Bernard, Frank, and Steve Walend.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 10, 2003 from 4-8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church at the corner of West 8th Street and Reid Avenue in Lorain. The Reverend Daniel O. Divis, pastor of the church will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
