Iris Brunelle Howard, 86, Enjoyed family and plate collecting
Iris Brunelle "Brunnie" Howard (nee Johnson), 86 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2003 at Community Health Partners H & S Center ER following a sudden illness.She was born February 8, 1917 in Panola County, Mississippi. She has been a resident of Lorain for 31 years.
Brunnie was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Amherst. She enjoyed quilting, reading, church outings and spending time with her family. She also loved to collect plates from all of the states.
Survivors include her sons: James Howard of Amherst, Jerry Howard of Senatobia, Mississippi, Paul Howard of Martin, Tennessee, Don and Barry Howard of Wakeman, daughters Jean Womack of Bishop, Texas and Rose Oswalt of Wakeman, 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and sisters Marcelle Taylor of Senatobia, Mississippi and Virginia Ford of Watervalley, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her husband FC "Skip" Howard in 1972, her son FC Howard Jr., in 1944, her grandsons Bobby Turner in 1973 and Ben Womack in 2000, and by her parents Lloyd U. and Flora Elizabeth Johnson (nee Griste).
Friends may call Tuesday, August 12, 2003 from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst with a funeral service to follow at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Steve Mayes, pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Amherst will officiate. Additional calling hours will be held Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at Hernando Funeral Home, 2285 Highway 51 South, Hernando, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the Union Church in Sardis, Mississippi. Burial will be in Union Church Cemetery, Sardis, Mississippi.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Good Shepherd Baptist Church Building Fund, 1100 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
