Margaret D. "Marge" Rebman, 83, Enjoyed traveling and playing cards
Margaret D. "Marge" Rebman (nee Matyi), 83, of Lorain, died Sunday August 17, 2003 in the emergency room at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after a sudden illness.She was born August 5, 1920 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain all of her life. She was a graduate of Lorain High School.
Along with her husband John, she co-owned Rebman Food Fair on the corner of Grove Avenue and 30th St. in Lorain for 16 years. She then worked for the Lorain City school system in the cafeteria for 10 years.
Mrs. Rebman was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, the St. Peter Senior Club, the Congregation of the Sacred Heart, Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society, Slovak Catholic Sokols Wr. #111 and the AARP.
She enjoyed bowling and bowled in the Happy Bunch League and the Leo Girls League. She attended the YMCA water aerobics class three times a week and enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
She is survived by her daughter Jean Schermer of Amherst and Judy Kerry of Canton; twin sons Jay Rebman of Dunn, North Carolina and Jon Rebman of Lewisville, North Carolina, 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and her sister - Sister Mary Juliana of Orange, California. She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Rebman in 1991 and sister Mary Ihnat.
Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
