George F. Griest Jr., 65, Enjoyed bowling and cards

George F. Griest, Jr., 65, of Sheffield Lake, died Wednesday, August 20, 2003 in the emergency room at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after suffering from a lengthy illness.

He was born August 2, 1038 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and had resided in Sheffield Lake for the past 33 years moving from Lorain.

Mr. Griest worked at the Elyria Plating Corporation as plater from 1964 to 1985.

He enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Virginia "Ginger" Griest (nee Ridenour), sisters Faye Ruth Sweeney of Lorain, brothers Larry Griest of Lorain and Robert Griest of Greensboro, South Carolina, 8 nephews, two nieces, 21 great nephews and nieces and five great great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brothers William Griest and John F. Lewis.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 22, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 633 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake. The Rev. Greg Varndell, pastor, will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain.
