Lilia (nee Ramirez) Gonzalez, 86, of Grafton, and formerly of Elyria, died Saturday morning, August 23, 2003 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a brief illness.Born February 10, 1917 in Cuidad Mier, Tamalupias, Mexico, Mrs. Gonzalez had lived in Lorain County since 1993 coming from Waynesburg, Ohio. She was a member of the Chapel of the Sacred Heart in Lorain. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and reading.
She is survived by her son with whom she made her home, Eulalio G. Gonzalez of Grafton, 4 grandchildren, 6 brothers, Carlos Ramirez of Mante, Mexico, Aldegundo Ramirez, Felipe Ramirez and Jose Ramirez, all of Monterrey, Mexico, Victoriano Ramirez of Houston, Texas and Canuto Ramirez of Waynesburg, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rogelio Gonzalez in 1999, her parents Alejandrino and Matilde (nee Hernandez) Ramirez, sister, Amelia DelaCruz in 2003, two brothers, Adalberto Ramirez in 1979 and Eduardo Ramirez in 2003.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. They will also receive friends on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 from 9:00 a.m., until the time of the funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Sacred Heart, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, with the Rev. Fr. Bill Thaden, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
