Maudie E. Alicie, 82, Enjoyed bible study and sewing

Maudie E. Alicie (nee Pilkins), age 82, of Oberlin, died Sunday, August 31, 2003 at her residence following a two-month illness.

Born May 31, 1921 in North Holston, Virginia, she came to this area in 1953.

She worked as a housekeeper, nurse, and as a baby sitter for many years.

She was an active member of Good Hope Freewill Baptist Church, Elyria and the ladies auxiliary of the church. She also taught Sunday School for 34 years. She enjoyed sewing, bible study, and attending church.

Surviving are her sons John W. Alicie of Winnie, Texas, Milburn F. Alicie of Hamilton, Ohio, and Jams M. Alicie of Winnie, Texas, daughters: Ruth L. Dutton of Amherst, Ohio, Patricia a. Hardin of Wooster, Ohio, Martha V. Harsar of Oberlin, and Ida P. Alicie of Winnie, Texas, 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, brother Fred of Washington Court House, Ohio, stepbrothers Donald and Franklin both of Del Barton, West Virginia, and stepsister Maggie of Del Barton, West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milburn Wallace Alicie, in 1987, her parents John Franklin Pilkins in 1967 and Martha (nee Fowler) Pilkins in 1957, a brother, Charles "Bud" during World War II, sister Cora Belle Warrix, in 1993, and a great great grandson, Preston Bollon.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 3, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at Good Hope Free Will Baptist Church, 42503 Butternut Ridge Road, Elyria. Rev. Paul Peterson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
