Max William Joppeck, 80, Enjoyed farming and traveling
Max William Joppeck, age 80, of Grafton passed away Monday in Elyria Memorial Hospital R.M.C. after a brief illness.He was born Monday, Aug 13, 1923 in Cleveland, living in the Grafton area since 1947. He is a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Grafton. Mr. Joppeck is formerly employed by the Midview School District retiring in 1990. He was also employed as a truck driver for 22 years with West Side Lumber & Elyria Concrete. He is a member of Teamsters Local 571 and The Black River Game Club for many years.
He is a veteran of WWII as Mr. Joppeck served 3 years with the Merchant Marines. He enjoyed farming and traveling. He is survived by his wife Anne and had been married for 55 yrs., 4 sons William Joppeck of Elyria, Ohio James Joppeck of Wellington, Ohio, Larry Joppeck of Elyria, Ohio, Michael Joppeck of Wakeman, Ohio, 9 grandchildren and 6 Great grandchildren. Other survivors include 2 Sisters Adelade Schilling of Medina County, Alice Hodges of Chippewa Lake, Ohio, 4 Brothers, Paul of Grafton, Ohio, George of Wellington, Ohio, Frank of Oberlin, Ohio and Sam of Kipton, Ohio
He is preceded in death by his parents Max and Irene Joppeck, a brother Howard, and sisters Mildred, Lillian, and Dorothy.
Friends may call in the Blackburn Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton Thursday from 5-9 p.m. with a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Assumption Catholic Church, 1033 Elm St. in Grafton, with Fr. John Seabold officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, Ohio. Family suggest memorials be made to the Kidney Foundation of Lorain County, P.O.
