Michael J. Toth, 92, Enjoyed playing violin, avid sports fan
Michael J. Toth, age 92, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, West, following a sudden illness.Born on November 11, 1910 in Elyria, Ohio he lived his entire life in Lorain.
Michael was employed at Lorain Works/US Steel for 46 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Former Young People's Hungarian Society of Lorain, a life member of the Lorain Moose Lodge #552, and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104.
In his younger days he enjoyed playing the violin, playing with a former local Lorain orchestra, Joe Monia's Violin Club. He also enjoyed polka music and was an avid sports fan, especially following Cleveland professional sports and Ohio State University sports.
He is survived by his daughters, Rita Miller of Sheffield Lake, Helene Toth of Lorain and Joanne Roberts of Amherst, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Helen (nee Zsihala), in 1982, parents Michael J. and Fannie (nee Fulei) Toth, two brothers, Julius and Stephen Toth, and his sister Stella Lesko.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 4, 2003 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Schmitz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
