Leona M. Simsic, 89, Enjoyed traveling and playing cards
Leona M. Simsic, age 89, of Lorain, died Sunday, September 7, 2003 at Golden Acres Nursing Home, Amherst, after a lengthy illness.She was born on March 24, 1914 in Czechoslovakia, and had lived in Lorain since 1921. She was a 1933 graduate of Clearview High School.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Ladies Circle No. 2 of the church, and the Helen Steiner Rice Society. She was also the long-time treasurer of the local branch of the United Lutheran Society.
A homemaker, she enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Surviving is her is a son, Allan of Port Washington, Wisconsin, two daughters, Holly Heaton of Median and Sherry Ward of Lorain, and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, George in 1987 and her parents Mathew and Susan Micuda.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 9, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Laurie Miller, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
