Marlyn Y. Henry, 72, Enjoyed bowling, shopping, loved animals

Photo of Marlyn Y. Henry Marlyn Y. " Hank" Henry, 72 of Lorain, died on Sunday, September 7, 2003 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center in Lorain following a nine-month illness.

Mr. Henry was born on October 9, 1930 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He graduated from McKeesport Institute of Technology in 1948 and moved to Lorain. He was a US Army field artillery veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in occupied Germany as a fort observer and surveyor. Mr. Henry had been employed by US Steel in the # 1 Machine Shop as a machinist and then was promoted to a supervisory position in the Open Hearth and the rolling mill until his retirement in 1983.

He attended the Hungarian Reformed Church. He was a member of Charleston Masonic Lodge # 702, now known as The Mid Century Lodge # 725. He bowled with the US Steel League. He enjoyed shopping, cooking and working on projects around the house. He also loved animals.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Lillian (nee Sharog) Henry, his daughter, Debra J. Sahr of Sheffield Lake, and a son, David J. Henry of Lorain.

Mr. Henry is preceded in death by his parents Charles B. and Violet D (nee Clouse) Henry, sister Violet DeRose Henry and his stepmother Edna (nee Sprinkle) Henry. Mrs. Violet Henry was a member of the Lakeland Women's Club and was one of the first groups instrumental in starting Community Hospital.

Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. to 7-9 p.m. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 p.m. by the Mid-Century Masonic Lodge # 725.

Funeral services will be held on September 11, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals with Rev. Attilla Veres Kovacs, pastor of Hungarian Reformed Church and Sister Catherine Romancik, SND, chaplain at Community Health Partners officiating. Marlyn Y. Henry will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township, and full military honors will be provided by the D.A.V. Louis Proy Post # 20.

Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Hungarian Reformed Church, 1691 E. 31st Street, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
