Violet R. Fleming, 76, Enjoyed traveling, gardening, and shopping

Violet R. Fleming (nee Markovich), age 76, of Avon Lake, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 7, 2003 in the Westlake Health Care Center, Westlake after a lengthy illness.

She was born January 21, 1927 in Cleveland. She had worked as an office manager for Campbell 66 Express Inc., and previous owned and operated Lakeland Lodges in Vermilion. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Avon Lake and the Lively Avon Lakers. She enjoyed traveling with friends, gardening and shopping.

Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Vander Sluis (Robert) with whom she made her home in Avon Lake and Gail Medvecky (residence not available), grandson Ryan Vander Sluis (Megan) and granddaughter Kimberly Pashko, two sisters Helen Parisi of Lakewood and Carol Ocivcrek of Andover, Ohio, several nieces and nephews and lifelong friend Hattie Hutson of Avon Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Joseph, sister Mary Stokel, brother Rudy Markovich and parents, Thomas and Mary (nee Sajatovic) Markovich.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake from 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday, September 10, 2003. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Road, Avon Lake on Thursday, September 11, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Timothy J. O'Connor will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
