James Joseph Anthos, 65, Owned Consumer Video, Amherst
James Joseph Anthos, 65 years of age, and a resident of Oberlin, passed away Monday, September 8, 2003 at his home following a four-month illness.Born November 9, 1937 in Ottawa, Canada, he moved to Michigan as a boy. He was a resident of Sandusky before moving to Oberlin in 1976.
He served in the US Marine Corp from 1955 to 1958. He was employed at the Lorain Plant of Ford Motor Corp for 34 years, retiring in 2000 from quality control. James and his wife, Janet, owned and operated Consumer Video in Amherst for 18 years. He loved working, bowling, golfing, and camping.
Survivors Include his wife of 38 years, Janet Clair (nee Dickman) Anthos, his son Eric Anthos of Marysville, Ohio, daughter Kellie Reed of Amherst, two grandchildren, brothers Emile J. Anthos of Lincoln Park, Michigan and Sam J. Anthos of Sandusky, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Sam Anthos in 1958, his mother Jeanette (nee Bertrand) in 2002 and by his stepfather Andrew Ward in 1983.
Friends may call Wednesday from 204 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Amherst Military Honor Guard will be performing military honors. The Rev. Daniel Ward, pastor of First United Church of Christ of Sandusky, will officiate. Burial will be in Henrietta Township Cemetery, Henrietta.
