Rose M. Smith, 76, Inspector

Rose M. Smith (nee Rutter), 76, of Lorain, died Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Ohio Extended Care Center in Lorain after a lengthy illness.

She was born July 16, 1927 in Lancaster, Ohio and had resided in the Elyria/Lorain area since 1944.

Mrs. Smith worked at Duffin Manufacturing in Lorain, at Melba Machine & Manufacturing in North Ridgeville where she was an inspector and at Kernell’s Automatic Machining in Berlin Heights retiring in 1992.

She was a member of New Beginning Worship Center in Elyria. She was dedicated and faithful to her church.

Mrs. Smith was a self taught organ player and continued to play while she was a resident in the nursing home.

She is survived by her son Nolan Smith of Lorain, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, sisters Opal Rutter and Charlotte Rutter, both of Lancaster and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Martha (nee Barnhart) Rutter, brother Luther Rutter in the Korean War and brother Harold Rutter in 1998.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 14, 2003 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. The Rev. Ronald Balas, pastor of New Beginning Worship Center of Elyria will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
