Geza Vetroczky, 84, Enjyoyed gardening and wood working
Geza Vetroczky, age 84, of Lorain, died on Friday, September 12, 2003 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, West, following a short illness.He was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on April 3, 1919 and returned to Kis Rat, Hungary in 1921. At age 20 he came back to America and was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He served in the campaign of the Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland and earned the American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church and their choir for over 50 years. He was also a lifetime member of the Hungarian Young Men’s Citizen Club.
Geza was a carpenter by trade and worked for the Lorain Board of Education, retiring in 1980. Geza enjoyed gardening, wood working, and bacon’s fry with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret (nee Suprak) Daughter, Dorothy Butchko, two grandsons and two great granddaughters, and a brother Joseph in Kis Rat, Hungary.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Vetroczky, a brother and three sisters.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 14, 2003 from 3-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on M0onday, September 15, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James P. Schmitz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Full military honors will be conducted by the Louis Paul Pry Chapter 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
