Antoinette J. Macartney, 56, Enjoyed golf, crafts, and floral design

Antoinette J. “Toni” Macartney (nee Mercurio), 56, of Lorain, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born June 1, 1947 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain/Amherst area resident.

Mrs. Macartney worked at CenturyTel in Lorain as the administrative assistant to vice president Timothy Kissane for the past 10 years.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lorain, the Lorain Lion’s Club and ITPA (International Telephone Pioneer Association). She volunteered with the United Way and the Toys for Tots program. She enjoyed golf, crafts, and floral design.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, David A. Macartney, daughter Mrs. Michael (Kelly) Fields of Vermilion and son David J. (Jennifer) Macartney of Lorain, granddaughter Emma Macartney of Lorain, grandsons Justin Fields and Brandon Fields, both of Apache Junction, Arizona, and sisters Lucille DeGenaro of Lorain and Phyllis Sedar of Avon Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Mary (nee Golini) Mercurio and brothers Ozzie Mercurio, Dante Mercurio and L.A. “Tony” Mercurio.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Additional visiting will be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of prayer services at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Zion Lutheran church, 5100 Ashland Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Edgar Anthony, pastor of St. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
