Donna Mae Hoerig, 71, Enjoyed gardening and bowling

Donna Mae Hoerig (nee Walton), 71 years of age, and a resident to Elyria, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2003 at her home following a three-month illness.

She was born October 10, 1931 in Wakeman where she was raised and lived until moving to Elyria 17 years ago.

She was a homemaker and mother and was also employed by Crown Steel in Lorain. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Elyria Amvets Post 32. Donna enjoyed gardening and bowling.

Survivors include her son Brad Hoerig of Amherst, daughter Kelly Winland of Huntington, West Virginia, three grandchildren, her brothers Robert Walton of Virginia and Donald Walton of Birmingham, sisters Carol Hogue of Elyria, Mary Murphy of Bowling Green and Wanda Thomas of Birmingham.

She was preceded in death by her son Kurt Hoerig in 1989 and by her parents Ralph and Marian Walton (nee Stage).

Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 46485 Middle Ridge Road, Amherst. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. from the church with the Rev. Tom Shumate, associate pastor, officiating.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.

Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
