Edward Salasovich, 74, Korean War Veteran, enjoyed gardening

He was born April 20, 1929 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Mr. Salasovich served in the Korean War with the US Marine Corps in the First Marine Division. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Commendation Ribbon with V, the Korean service Medal with three Stars, Presidential Unit Citation with one Star and the United Nations Medal.
He worked at US Steel in Lorain as an inspector in the coupling shop for 37 years before retiring.
Mr. Salasovich was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and a member of the church Holy Name Society where he was a past vice president and current chairperson of the sick and vigil committee. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #451 in Lorain. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret (nee Stelmack) brother Richard Salasovich of Lorain and three nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Mary (nee Demchik) Salasovich and brother Michael Salasovich.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 17, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Stanislaus Holy Name Society will pray the rosary Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Edward Luca and the Rev. Mr. William Schill, deacon of St. Stanislaus, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain with military honors.
