Matthew S. Nieter, 43, Founder of 5th Street Deli

Photo of Matthew S. Nieter Matthew S. Nieter, 43, of Lorain died on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain, Ohio following a brief illness.

Mr. Nieter was born on June 3, 1960 in Lorain, Ohio and was a lifetime resident. In 1978 he graduated from Lorain Admiral King High School. He was the founder of the 5th Street Deli and operated the deli until his death. He was an accomplished unicycle rider, played racquetball, enjoyed comics and loved to read documentaries. He volunteered for several agencies in Lorain.

Mr. Nieter is survived by his sister Leigh Ann Nieter of Lorain, brothers Mark Eichholz of Amherst, Timothy Nieter of Lorain, his Aunt Gertrude Gross of Elyria, many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Stanley Nieter, and his mother Clementine L. (Nee Gross) Eichholz.

Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio, on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until funeral time at 8:00 p.m. Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor of St. Mary’s Church will officiate.
The family suggests that memorials be left at the funeral home in his memory.
