Leonard Schlesinger, 77, Enjoyed woodcarving and golf

Leonard G. Schlesinger, 77, of Avon Lake , formerly of Avon, passed away Wednesday, September 24, at Bradley Bay Care Center, Bay Village, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Schlesinger was born March 13, 1926 in Maple Heights and had lived in Avon Lake since the mid 1970’s.

Mr. Schlesinger was an Electrical engineer, working for various companies, including R.E. Werner of Lorain and Tryvge-Hoff of Cleveland. He has been retired for over 20 years. He enjoyed woodcarving, landscape design, and golf.

Mr. Schlesinger is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Powers of Avon Lake and Cyndy Bracy (John) of Lorain. Other survivors include 3 grandchildren: Scott, Nicole, and Daniel, and 2 great grandchildren: Paige and Anthony, as well as a brother Lawrence Schlesinger and a sister Jean Barcy. He is also survived by a special pet, Rocki. Besides his wife of 31 years, Marie A. (nee Soukup), he is proceeded by his parents, George and Elizabeth (nee Pillar) Schlesinger.

Friends may call Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Beldon Road in Avon Lake on Thursday September 25, from 5-9p.m. and for one hour before the service. All services will be at the funeral home Friday at 11:00a.m. The family will conduct the service celebrating Mr. Schlesinger’s life. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden located in Avon. Memorials may be forwarded to New Life Hospices, 5255 N. Abbe Rd., Elyria, 44035.
