Mary Gula, 95, Devoted member of St. Peter's Church

Mary Gula, (nee Kosmo), age 95, of Lorain, died Friday, September 26, 2003 at her residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following a short illness.

Born July 5, 1908 in Humbert, Pennsylvania, she came to Lorain in 1924 and has lived here since.

She was a devoted member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain where she attended mass daily. She was a member of the church’s Congregation of the Sacred Heart, and had been a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lorain.

She enjoyed gardening and baking.

Surviving are her sons, Allen of North Canton, James of Lorain, and Terrence of Akron, daughters, Aloma Cetovick of Sparks, Nevada, Joy Gula, of Lorain, and Janice Gummo, of Lorain, 18 grand children, 28 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren, brother Robert Kosmo, of Lorain, and sisters Helen Mortensen, of California and Virginia Kosmo of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joseph in 1983, brothers, Edward, George, and John, sister Ann Nickel, grandson Dennis Gula, and granddaughter Maureen Gula.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, where a rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also be received there on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Father Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
