Paul Cooper, 49, Enjoyed fishing, the Indians, and playing the drums
Paul Leslie Cooper, 49, of Avon Lake, passed away Saturday September 27, 2003 at Fairview General Hospital, Cleveland following a sudden illness. He was born July 28, 1954 in Lakewood, was raised in Rocky River and moved to Avon Lake eight years ago.He was a 1972 graduate of Rocky River High School and attended Miami University, Coral Gables, Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Marketing and Theology. He was self-employed. He attended West Park United Church of Christ, Cleveland. Paul enjoyed fishing and his annual trips to Canada; he was a Cleveland Indians baseball fan and a drummer playing and traveling internationally with numerous bands since high school.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Joanne Durkee Cooper (nee Durkee); two daughters, Averil Jean Marples and Honor Rose Cooper both of Avon Lake; a son, Zachariah James Marples of Avon Lake; his mother, Cecil Meyer Cooper (nee Meyer) of Rocky River; three brothers, Douglas O. Cooper (Karen) of Lakewood; Kenneth C. Cooper (Mary) of Westlake; and Donald A. Cooper (Susan) of Avon Lake; and a sister, Jennifer J. Kuhn (Donald) of Lakeland, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, Wesely Paul Cooper (1991) and a sister, Karen L. Paytosh (1997).
Friends may call the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Beldon Road, Avon Lake from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Wednesday. All services will be held at the West Park United Church of Christ, 3909 Rocky River Dr. in Cleveland on Thursday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Lawrence Craig will officiate. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmstead. In lieu of flowers memorials may be forwarded to the Cooper Family Memorial Fund in care of any Fifth Third Bank.
