Carolyn Jones, 78, Enjoyed church

Photo of Carolyn Jones Carolyn Ruth Jones (nee Vogler), 78, of Vermilion, died suddenly Sunday, September 28, 2003 in Community Health Partners West, Lorain.

She was born May 1, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio and has been a Vermilion resident since 1942, living at Beulah Beach as a teenager.

She graduated from Vermilion High School in 1943.

She worked at the Vermilion School District as a teacher’s aid for 25 years, and prior to that as a secretary for General Motors New Departure in Sandusky.

She was a member of the Vermilion Church of the Nazarene, where she was on the board for many years and was highly active in church activities. She was a member of TOPPS, and enjoyed sending cards, and exercising at the YMCA. She participated in the Tuesday Bible Study at German’s Villa.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Earl Jones; a son Gary Jones of Lima; a daughter Kimberly Ruth Forseth of Nampa, Idaho; 5 grandchildren; a sister, Lois Baxter, and a brother, Robert Vogler both of Beulah Beach, Vermilion.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Arthur and Mabel (nee Brown) Vogler.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Nazarene, 14907 Kneisel Road, in Vermilion on Thursday October 2, at 6p.m. with the Reverend David Johnson, pastor, officiating.
