Paul A. Knight, 78, Enjoyed traveling, fishing, and his grandchildren

Paul A. Knight, age 78, of Lorain, died Saturday in New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain, following a six month illness.

Born on November 12, 1924 in Lorain, Mr. Knight had lived in Lorain all of his life. He was a 1943-A graduate of Lorain High School. During World War II, he had served in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed as an electrician fro the I.B.E.W. Local #129 of Lorain fro 41 years, retiring in 1986, and had also been the secretary-treasurer of the I.B.E.W. for eight years.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Lorain, member of the AMVETS Post #47 of Lorain and was a member of the Polish Fisherman’s of Lorain. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, puzzles, golf and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanette (nee Szymanel) Knight, whom he married May 17, 1952; two sons, Paul Knight of Oak Park, Illinois, and Dr. Kim Knight of Bellevue, Ohio, daughter Jacqueline Dempsey of Lorain, 8 grandchildren, brother Charles “Dick” Knight of Lorain, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Veletta (nee Mead) Knight, two sisters, Jean Stitak and Jacqueline Swable, and brother Bill Knight.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 6, 2003 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funereal Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.

Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, with the Rev. Fr. Edward Luca, Pastor Emeritus of St. Teresa of Avila Church, officiating. Deacon Rev. Bill Schill and Deacon Rev. Jim Debrason, both will assist.

Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, where the AMVETS Post #47 of Lorain, will conduct graveside military rites.

Memorial contributions if desired may be given to the Restoration Fund of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44055.
