Caroline Johnson, 78, Enjoyed Bingo and baking

Caroline Johnson (nee Persinger), 78, of Vermilion, died Sunday, October 5, 2003 at the home of her son in Vermilion after a 1 month illness.

She was born May 23, 1925 in Marion, OH.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, in Vermilion, and the North Central REACT, a citizen’s band watchdog club. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed baking.

Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Johnson of Langsville, OH; sons William M. Johnson, III and Todd Johnson both of Vermilion; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Helen Schwaz of Lorain, and Nilah Travis of Elyria; Half-brothers, Richard Persinger of New Bloomington, OH, George Persinger of Florida, William Persinger of LaRue, OH, Tom Persinger of Marion, OH; Half-sisters, Geneva Manring of Iberia, OH, Barbara Morgan of Marion, OH, Dorothy Hughes of Marion, OH, Miriam Reed of Marion, OH, and Shirley Scheitler of Warsaw, OH.

Preceding her in death were her husband, William Mark Johnson, Jr., September 24, 2003, parents, Claude and Nora (nee Yount) Persinger; a son, half-sister, Betty Arndt, half-brother, Junior, and 2 brothers, Gerald and Robert.

A memorial service will be held Monday, October 13, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 990 State Street, in Vermilion. The Reverend Wendall Brooker, pastor, will officiate.
