Dorothy Halfhill, 81, Enjoyed sewing

Dorothy M. Halfhill (nee Davis), 81, of Sheffield Lake, died Sunday, October 5, 2003 in Oak Hills Nursing Home in Lorain, following a brief illness.

Born August 30, 1922 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Halfhill had lived in Ohio since 1955, coming from Pennsylvania, and had lived in Sheffield Lake since 1971.

She was a 1940 graduate of Miles Bryant High School in McKeesrocks, PA. She had attended the Church on the North Coast and was formerly active with the Girl Scouts. She had enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by her 3 sons, John Charles Halfhill of Vermilion, Thomas Robert Halfhill of Granite City, IL and Ronald Halfhill of Key West, FL; 4 daughters, Shirly Jean Nieding (nee Barnes) of Matthews, North Carolina, Beverly Dean (Barnes) of Heaters, WV, Patricia Butas of Cleveland, and Dorothy “Dot” King of Granite City, IL; 28 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Dwayne Clyde Davis of Elizabeth, PA; 2 sisters, Vivian Milligan of Denver, CO and Thelma Davis of Clairton, PA; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Roy Edwards Barnes; 2nd husband, Benard Dan Halfhill; Parents Clyde Leathers and Marietta (nee Moon) Davis; 2 sons, Bernard Halfhill and William Halfhill; 1 brother, Donald Davis; 1 sister, Marjorie Fuller.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral services.

The Dovin Funeral Home, at 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, handled the arrangements.
