David C. Stein, 58, Vietnam Veteran, enjoyed painting

David C. Stein, 58, of Freeport, formerly of Avon Lake and Lakewood, passed away Monday, October 6, 2003 at his home following a sudden illness.

Mr. Stein was born January 11, 1945 in St. Paul, Minnesota and had lived in Freeport the past 15 years.

Mr. Stein had attended Cleveland State University and went on to serve in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam War, for which he was awarded the Full Dress Marine Uniform for top honors in training school at Parris Island. He was a member of the VFW. He also enjoyed playing piano, painting, and his dog Rosemary.

He is survived by his mother, Bette Stein of Lorain, sister Kristen Hague of McMurray, Pennsylvania, two nieces, one great niece and one great nephew. He is preceded in death by his son Michael Stein (7/4/02), and his father Rev. Samuel Stein (2/14/02).

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in Redeemer Lutheran Church, 295 College Park Drive, Elyria. Pastor William Burkett of the Church will officiate. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC at a later date. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Memorials may be forwarded to Redeemer Lutheran Church. Arrangements handled by Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, Avon Lake.
