Eloise Irene Stilgenbauer, 88, Lorain School teacher, homemaker

Eloise Irene (nee Kilgore) Stilgenbauer, 88 of Elyria formerly of Lorain died on Monday, October 6, 2003 at New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph in Lorain, OH following a long illness.

Mrs. Stilgenbauer was born on July 31, 1915 in Holloway, OH. She has lived in the Lorain area for more than 85 years. She is a graduate of Lorain High School and Ohio Weslyan University. She was a former teacher in the Lorain School system and had taught nutrition for the American Red Cross. Most recently, she was a homemaker.

She is a member of the First United Methodist Church, now known as Cornerstone United Methodist Church, A 50 year Member Eastern Star Queen City Chapter # 66, Round Table, College Club, Sorosis, United Methodist Women, Black River Historical Society, Great Lakes Historical Society, Alpha Chi Omega, Mary Martha Society, Charter member of the Community Health Partners Auxiliary, volunteer at Ohio Extended Care, Western Reserve Theatre Organ Society, Girl Scout Leader, member of AAUW, East Side Literary Club and charter member of the Rainbow Girls.

Mrs. Stilgenbauer is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert J. Stilgenbauer, her daughter, Cheryl A. Strehle of Birmingham, her son, Dr. Robert E. Stilgenbauer of Lorain, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ortho Evermond and Goldie Ellen (nee Dunlap) Kilgore, sisters Genevieve Sager, and Helen Smith.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the Elyria Village Chapel, 807 West Avenue, Elyria with the Rev. Dalton Love officiating. Contributions may be made to New Life Hospice 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
