Howard Osburn, 73, Enjoyed hunting and fishing
Howard Earl Osburn, 73, of Amherst died Thursday, October 9, 2003 at Grace Hospital in Amherst following a lengthy illness.He was born on May 11, 1930 in East Lynn, West Virginia.
He was employed as a Scarfer at US steel for 30 years, retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, stamp and coin collecting, and shopping at flea markets with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth (nee Childers); sons, James of Lorain and Timmy of Amherst; daughters, Sharon McKinney of Lorain, Diana Medina of Ruskin, FL, and Orpha Jean Dillworth of North Vernon, Indiana; brothers, Clarence of Lorain and Robert of Shallote, North Carolina; sister, Edna Smith of Wortland, KY; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney Osburn (1967) and Susie (nee Adkins) (1978); son, Troy Lee Osburn (1957); brothers, Carl Osburn (1972), and Curtis Osburn during WWII (1943).
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 11, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., in Lorain with Reverend Howard Carroll, pastor of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
