William Pennington, 66, Former police officer

Photo of William Pennington William C. Pennington, 66, of Vermilion died Thursday, October 9, 2003 at his home after a 1 � year illness.

He was born December 3, 1936 in Williamsport, TN and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 20 years, moving from Lorain.

He worked as a patrolman for the Lorain Police Department during the 1960’s-1980’s. He was an independent distributor for the Plain Dealer. He did contract maintenance for the Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Board and just received his 20 year award for service. He worked as a independent contractor and has worked at Thew Shovel and American Shipyard in Lorain.

He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Elks Club. He enjoyed decorating for Christmas and woodworking for craft shows.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Robin R. (nee Parson) Pennington; daughters, Teri Beth Peltz of Lorain, Heidi Nicole and Jenny Louise Parson, both at home; son, Craig William Pennington of Ovielo, FL; 2 grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Pennington of Elyria; a sister, Joyce Brlectic of Lorain; and a nephew.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Paul E. and Lina E. (nee Wells) Pennington.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 12, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH.

Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home on Monday, October 13, 2003 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Kenneth Schultz officiating.

Interment will follow in Brownhelm Cemetery in Vermilion.
