Emma M. Griggs, 74, Enjoyed crocheting and baking

Emma M. Griggs (nee Mey), 74, of Loudonville died Friday, October 10, 2003 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain after a short illness.

She was born March 5, 1929 in Cleveland and had resided in Loudonville since 1985. She had lived in Vermilion from 1945 to 1985.

While living in Vermilion, Mrs. Griggs worked at Kroger's Grocery Store in Vermilion, sold Avon cosmetics and worked as a Railroad Express agent. She worked at the McDonald's in Millersburg and Loudonville for the past ten years.

Mrs. Griggs enjoyed crocheting and baking, especially for the holidays and Christmas.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Richard P. "Dick" Griggs of Loudonville; daughter Bertha Wooldridge of Sheffield Lake, son Richard F. Griggs of Lorain; 4 grandchildren: Sherry Bush (nee Rose) of Lorain; Glenn Rose of Columbus, Richard A. Griggs of Vermilion and Shelley Griggs of New London; 10 great grandchildren; sisters Helen Newkirk of Cleveland; Alice Herman of Amherst; Barb Smith of Vermilion and Pauline Holcamp of Vermilion; brothers Eddie Mey of Arizona, Bob Mey of Vermilion and Ernie Mey of Vermilion. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Martha (nee Kellah) Mey and brothers Johnny Mey and Walter Mey.

Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Rd., Avon. The Rev. Terry Parker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermilion, will officiate. Burial will follow.
