Julia Karney, 93, Enjoyed crocheting and cooking
Julia G. Karney (nee Waszily), 93, of Lorain died Friday, October 10, 2003 at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion after a lengthy illness.She was born August 29, 1910 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Lorain High School class of 1928.
Mrs. Karney worked as a seamstress for S. Weitz Clothing in Lorain from 1946 to 1956. She was a former member of St. Ladilaus Catholic Church in Lorain and a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain.
Mrs. Karney served on the Lincoln School PTA and was past vice president. She was a member of St. Ann Auxiliary of St. Ladilaus Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and was active with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Vaughn (Elaine J.) Campbell of Florida and Mrs. James (Gerry) Walting of Lorain; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister Lena Dymiticuk of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen J. Karney; parents John and Julia (nee Kovacs) Waszily; and brother John Waszily.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave. in Lorain where St. Ann Auxiliary will pray the rosary. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave. in Lorain. The Rev. David Woost, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
