Wilma Simms, 80, Enjoyed reading and her grandchildren
Wilma Simms (nee Pagacs), 80, of Lorain, died Friday October 10, 2003 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a lengthy illness.She was born August 12, 1923 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Mrs. Simms worked as a secretary for Attorney Svete in Lorain and then as an Administrative Assistant for the William Penn Fraternal Association in Lorain.
She was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain, St. Ann Auxiliary of the church, Lorain Senior Citizens and the Hungarian Association. She was active in Hungarian affairs and volunteered with the Lorain PTA.
Mrs. Simms enjoyed reading, needlepoint and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Francis (Bonnie) Csubak of Lorain, son Frank Simms and his wife Kathy of Roanoke, Virginia, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sisters Julia Polgar of Lorain, Elvira Price of Amherst and Mrs. Albert (Margaret) Wooding of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Alex Simms, parents of Frank and Julia (nee Tirpak) Pagacs, brother Frank Pagacs, Jr. in World War II and a brother in infancy.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where St. Ann Auxiliary will pray the rosary Monday at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, 1412 E. 29th St., Lorain. The Rev. James Schmitz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
