Nancy Parker, 84, Enjoyed ceramics
Nancy Lee Reynolds Parker (nee Sharp), 84, of Amherst, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Community Health Partners H & S Center in Lorain following many years of poor health.She was born August 12, 1919 in Marlington, WV, where she was raised and lived until moving to Amherst in 1950.
Nancy was a dedicated housewife and mother. She worked to help support her family at Nelson Stud in Lorain for twenty years and also part-time for the Amherst Marion L. Steele High School and Harris Elementary Public Schools. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst where, while in good health, she was very active in the support of ministries. She was a long time volunteer for the Amherst Hospital. She dedicated two years of her life to the care and rehabilitation of her handicapped nephew. In her spare time she enjoyed ceramics.
Survivors include her sons, Bill Reynolds of Oberlin, Jack Reynolds of Amherst, and Bob Reynolds of Grafton; daughters, Barbara Balzer of Vermilion, Katherine Dow of Raleigh, NC, and Shirley Radefeld of Belton, TX; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; brother Don Sharp of Marlington, WV; and sisters Faye Pritt and Annabelle Gibson, both of Marlington, WV.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 35 years, Robert C. Reynolds (1975) and by her second husband of 12 years, Raymond Parker (1992); daughter Ramona Sprague (1982); brother Marvin "Jim" Sharp; sisters, Lutricia Stimeling and Jane Simmons; and by her parents, Clifford and Thursa (nee Lester) Sharp.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., in Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 582 Church Street, in Amherst at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Crownhill Cemetery in Amherst.
