Robert J. London, 75, Owned London Furniture and Carpet
Robert J. London, 75, of Avon Lake, Ohio passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at St. John & West Shore Hospital, Westlake following a short illness.He was born September 3, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Avon Lake ten years ago coming from Bay Village. He served in the Army and as a graduate of Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. Mr. London was a third generation self-employed businessman and owner of London Furniture and Carpet, located in Rocky River and Cleveland for 35 years. He was then employed as a problem resolution supervisor for the I.R.S. retiring ten years ago. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, a former president of the local chapter of the Airstream Club and was a member of the Sandusky Sailing Club. Robert was an avid sailor, enjoyed motorcycle riding and traveling and camping in his Airstream Camper. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. London is survived by his wife of 47 years, Valerie (nee Johnson) two sons, Jack London of Chicago, Illinois and James London of Rocky River, two daughters, Cynthia London Wise of Poulsbo, Washington and Susan London Eons of North Ridgeville, three granddaughters: Jessica and Emily Enos and Hailey Wise, brother Richard London and two sisters, Carol Benawit and Anne London. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morton and Ethel (nee Katz) London.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake from 2-9 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2003. Friends and family will be meeting at the Funeral chapel, Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. and processing to Lakewood Park Cemetery, Rocky River for a graveside gathering at 10:00 a.m.
