Josephine W. Boone, 90, Loved flowers and being with family

Josephine W. Boone (nee Van Niel), 90, of Lorain, died Friday, October 24, 2003 at Golden Acres Lorain County Nursing Home in Amherst.

She was born August 2, 1913 in Sheffield Township and had lived in the Lorain area all of her life.

Mrs. Boone was an employee of Clearview Schools working in the cafeteria as Head Cook and Cafeteria Manager. She was honored in 1974 with the High School yearbook "The Guide" being dedicated in her honor. She retire din 1977 after 31 years of service.

Mrs. Boone was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also had a love for flowers and enjoyed reading and watching television.

She is survived by her sons: Robert E. Boone of Ann Arbor, Michigan, William R. Boone and Gerald D. Boone, both of Lorain, 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren and sisters Edith Claus of Lorain and Loretta Solomon of Sheffield Township. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard D. Boone in 1941, grandsons Gregory W. Boone in 1996 and Robert M. Boone in 2003, parents Herman and Grace (nee Fied) Van Niel, brothers: Edwin, Lawrence, Howard, and Clarence Van Niel, sisters Sylvia Delzeith, Harriet Dorinski, Alma Hemminger and Genevieve Hemminger.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the Holy Trinity Altar and Rosary Society will pray the rosary Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
