Suzanne Pajer-Kovac, 91, Accomplished artist, enjoyec crocheting

Suzanne Pajer-Kovac, 91, of Lorain, died Saturday, October 25, 2003 at Stow Glen Health Care Center in Stow, Ohio after a lengthy illness.

She was born August 27, 1912 in Lorain. She had resided in Youngstown from 1937 to 1980 and lived in Lorain prior to moving to Youngstown and afterwards had lived in the Firelands Retirement Center in Lorain.

Mrs. Kovac worked at Pullman Restaurant on Pearl Avenue in Lorain.

She was a member of the old St. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church on Vine and 34th Street in Lorain where she was the first organist of the church. She taught Sunday school at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Youngstown. She was a past member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Bethlehem Lutheran Church both in Youngstown. She most recently attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cuyahoga Falls.

Mrs. Kovac was an accomplished artist and exhibited some of her works at the Butler Art Gallery. She enjoyed crocheting.

She is survived by her sons Andrew G. Kovac of Macedonia and Larry W. Kovac of Conneaut, granddaughter Katelyn Kovac of Macedonia, sisters Helen Pajer-Duran of Lorain and Betty Pajer-Crawford of Elyria, brothers John Pajer of Lorain, Jerry Pajer of Sheffield Lake, and Andy Pajer of Fremont and Arnold Pajer of Vermilion, and lifetime friend Mary Yurovich of Grafton. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Kovac, a Youngstown police officer in 1965, parents George and Anna Pajer (nee Hronec), sister Mildred Suster and brother George Pajer, Jr.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 28, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Linwood H. Chamberlain, Jr., co-pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Belmont Park Cemetery in Liberty Township Ohio.
