Wayne P. Campana, 58, U.S. Navy Veteran
Wayne P. Campana, age 58, of Lorain, died Monday October 27, 2003 in the emergency room of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West following a brief illness.Mr. Campana was born February 5, 1945 in Lorain, and had been a life-long resident of the city. He was a graduate of Lorain High School and went on to attend the Lorain County Community College.
Mr. Campana was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict where he served as an electronics specialist aboard the U.S.S. John King; he was stationed in the Mediterranean and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.
Wayne was also the president and founder of Wayne Campana, Inc. where he had been employed as an electrical as well as a heating and cooling contractor for the past 32 years. He was also employed as a part-time laboratory assistant at Lorain County Community College where he aided in setting up experiments in the chemistry lab.
He was a member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #1 of Lorain as well as the Black River Stamp Club. His hobbies included stamp collecting, sailing, repairing sail boats, and cooking.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years: Teri M. (nee Orlandi), a daughter: Dena Campana at home, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father: Silvio Campana, his mother: Pauline Campana-Kintz (nee Volpe), and his step-father: Harold Kints.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter in Lorain officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst Township where military honors will be conducted by members and officers of Italian-American Veterans Post #1.
