David Lee Gay III, 52, Sports enthusiast and movie buff
David Lee Gay, III, age 52, of Vermilion, died Friday, October 31, 2003 following a sudden illness.He was born on July 13, 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia and has lived in Vermilion for the past 5 years. He also lived in Summerville, SC.
He was currently working as a librarian assistant for the Ritter Public Library in Vermilion and also doing maintenance work for Cloudy’s Landing in Vermilion. He had also worked for JCPenny Company in Sandusky.
He graduated from Dekalb University with a degree in history and attended Grace United Methodist Church in Vermilion. He was a sports enthusiast, especially of baseball and college football and NASCAR racing. He also golfed on local leagues and was on a billiards team. He was an avid reader and a movie buff.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Melody Gay (nee McDonald), daughter Alicia Gay of Sumter, SC, son Derek Gay of Sumter, SC, step-son Jeremy Kelsey of Vermilion, father and step-mother David and Kris Lee of Sumter, SC, sister Tracy Gay of Pawleys Island, SC, and half-brother Paul Gay of Sumpter, SC.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Nancy Sue (nee Barfield) Gay and a brother John Frankie Gay.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 4, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend James Cox, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
