John O. Trubach, 67, Sheffield Lake Building Inspector
John O. Trubach, 67, of Sheffield Lake died on Sunday, November 2 2003 at his residence following an illness of seven months.Mr. Trubach was born June 4, 1936 in Lorain and had been a resident of Sheffield Lake most of his life.
He attended Brookside High School and went on to serve as a Private First Class with the United States Army; he was attached to the Armored Division based in Barstow, California from 1959 to 1962. Upon his return from the military, he was employed as a carpenter with the Lorain Local #747. In 1982 he was appointed to the office of Building Inspector in the City of Sheffield Lake; he held that position for seventeen years, retiring in June of 1999.
John was an ardent participant and supporter of the Sheffield Lake Youth Baseball Program where he served as manager and coach for more than eighteen years. He was also active with the Brookside High School athletic programs where he formerly served as timekeeper and statistician for the varsity football team. He was instrumental in the planning and construction of the press box at Sevits Stadium. In acknowledgement of that effort and other contributions to the school, he was awarded a letter "B" by the Brookside Varsity Club.
He also assisted in the construction of the concession stand at the city's Ferndale Park. In addition to building projects, he also liked lake fishing and travel.
Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Carol (nee Morris); a son Johnny Trubach and his wife Dawn of Clarksfield; a daughter, Tammie Olsen and her husband Dave of Sheffield Lake; grandchildren: Sonsee and John Henry Trubach, and David and Brandy Olsen; brother David J. Trubach of Sheffield Lake; and a sister Vivian McCullough, also of Sheffield Lake.
John was preceded in death by his father Oscar (Steve) in 1955; his mother Elizabeth (nee Mraz) in 1985; and a sister, Nancy.
By his request, there will be no funeral services or visitation. The family suggests memorial in his memory to the Sheffield Lake United Church of Christ; 603 Sunset Avenue, Sheffield Lake, OH 44054.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel in Lorain.
A rememberance gathering will be conducted Saturday November 13, 2003 at the Sheffield Lake Community Center; 4575 East Lake Road in Sheffield Lake.
